SPRINGFIELD, IL – Giffin, Winning, Cohen & Bodewes, P.C. is pleased to announce the addition of Attorney Matthew R. Trapp and Attorney Jason E. Brokaw to the century old, prominent downtown Springfield law firm.
Matthew R. Trapp comes to Giffin, Winning, Cohen & Bodewes, P.C. as a former Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Springfield. While at the City of Springfield, he was part of the litigation department, where he worked on cases in both the trial and appellate courts. Prior to that, he was a law clerk for the Honorable Sue E. Myerscough at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois in Springfield and for the Illinois Fourth District Court of Appeals. Mr. Trapp brings experience in local government law, and also works in the areas of business and commercial litigation, personal injury and appeals. He received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Biology from Illinois College and received his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law in Dallas, TX. Trapp is licensed to practice in Illinois, Missouri and Texas and is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Sangamon County Bar Association.
Jason E. Brokaw was previously a legislative analyst for the Illinois State House of Representatives. He returned to Springfield in 2012 as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Springfield. He brings experience in municipal and local government law. Mr. Brokaw received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Communications Studies and Political Science from Northern Illinois University and received his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Northern Illinois University. He is licensed to practice in Illinois and is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Government Bar Association and the Sangamon County Bar Association.
